wet sanded & polished headlights today!
I did that with mine too. I removed the headlights first though which made it easier I'm sure. Then i used Meguiars PlasticX clear plastic polish. I don't have any pictures though...
Is the sanding really necessary? I'm scared to scrach them....lol
I think i need to do this to mine aswell, They always look dirty or they got some dust on them all time, even though I just washed it....

looks good. i was skimming through the thread titles and i saw the words "wet sand" and "polished" so i instantly thought WTF!?! o.O wet sanding a P&P job? lol. good work man.
Perfect write up! I used Meguiar's PlastX instead -- worked great for me, too.
I followed these steps eactly and it FU*KED my headlights up!
Started with 1000 grit sandpaper (wet) wih slow trickle hose on the headlights at all times. Scrubbed the hell out of them in circular motions. Applied several coats of PlastX and now my lights are worse off than they were before. When I look closely, I can see major circular scratches all over the damn plastic. Any recommendations on how to fix them?

Alright, so I went to Autozone and purchased headlight repair kit. This kit included 5 "mineral" pads that work very well in removing the built up yellow grime on the headlight lens. I then applied the Maguires PlastiX and buffed the hell out of it with a power drill several times. I think I ended up applying 12 layers of this stuff and it fixed my headlights. All of the scratches are gone! Thank goodness. I thougt I was gonna have to buy new headlights.
Follow the intructions in this thread VERY CARFULLY and you'll have success!

It's best not to sand any clear finish or paint in a circular motion. they have detailing products specifically for swirl marks on paint and clear coat because of it. glad you buffed it out after all, but you leave the circular motion for the buffer polisher.
