Default 02 Civic LX; 145/150mph @ 6300rpm - not chipped

Okay, those of you who have this style Civic I have a question... something that has stumped my boyfriend, our friend who is a tech at Honda and myself. These cars shut off between 110mph and 112mph without being chipped at roughly 4500rpms. Two nights ago my boyfriend and I were coming home and I heard a 'what the heck'. As I glanced over I noticed that my tack was at almost 6000 rpms and my speedometer read 135/140mph. My car has NEVER done this before, NEVER. The most it has gone is 115mph downhill. We were in 5th gear, my car has always cut the fuel when it hits 110/112 so this is has me wondering. I have a picture that I took of it with my cell phone, he got the speedometer to hit 150mph @ 6300rpms. I also have a video, but it's to large to allow me to send it to my email account to share. He is a Honda guy, knows tons about them... I know a decent share... and our friend, well hell he is a tech at one of 3 Honda dealerships in Vermont - none of us can figure it out. My car has NOTHING done to it except a Ractive ShortRam [it's loving this cold air, didnt' want to invest in a ColdAir at the time... am thinking about it now] and slight exhaust modifications... it is not chipped, nothing has been done with my ECU at all.

Has this happened to anybody else, without having a chipped computer?

ha ha, the pic looks like something out of "unsolved mysteries"!

Remember that guy Maddawg who was here a couple months ago? He had an '05 and he said he got his car up to 130 and it wouldn't go any higher than that. [sm=wtf.gif]

My "toilet" (02 Civic LX) does goes to 150 ... and my boyfriends 91 Civic HB has a speedometer of 125mph...

I took that picture with my cell phone in 'Night Mode' ... it's a Nokia 3220... The roads were wet, we weren't physicaly going 145/150... I know that, we were certianly going a MAX of 80mph. But I don't understand why the computer didn't cut the fuel to my motor when it hit 4500rpms @ 110/112mph. And that guy who said he went 130 but no more had to have work done... or a chipped computer, as far as I know the EX's even shut off before 120mph. So either he had work done, or he's on some serious fricken drugs.

[picture of the guages in the 02-05 Civic's; it is out of an Automatic 02-05 Civic but you can see it goes beyond 140mph]

I dont think its humanly possible for a stock 02 lx to go 150MPH, after all, its the new 06 Civic SI that can go 150, but were comparing an lx to si.

Were you hydroplaining? One time I was driving down the highway and hit a flash storm and was literally hydroplaining for 100 yards or more and I hit the gas to try to keep going so I wouldn't get plowed from behind and the speedo spiked all the way up past 130. I almost **** my pants.
