Default CEL Codes?

I have seen on many threads guys saying that "their Check Engine Light came on and i checked the code, and it was a P0135 (for exapmle)". How do you figure out what code your CEL is throwing?

Go to autozone or pep boys or any auto retailer in your area and pick up a code reader w/ delete capabilities.
