check engine light
my daugter's 01 civic threw a CEL this morning. I took the car to Auto zone, and was told the code is P0325, Knock Sensor circuit malfunction. The guy indicated that it may be related to the fuel in the tank, and suggested she got a bad tankful of gas, as the simple solution. He sold me some injector cleaner, but I thought I would check this site before I put in the cleaner. It turns out my daughter filled up her tank about 6 days ago, and put only about 50 miles on the car since. She said there was a fuel truck delivering fuel at the time she got the gas. I had heard that's not the time to fill up, as the fuel going into the underground tank stirs up setiment, which can end up in your car.....has anyone had any experience with this code, and is there a chance my adding this injector cleaner may solve the problem, or make things worse?
go to this website and confirm this is your issue if you like. Also, adding cleaner shouldn't hurt anything but I'd be more prone to thinking it is a loose wire or something... Try the cleaner.

c. Turn the ignition key to ON and observe the "CHECK ENGINE" light. It will flash the trouble codes. For example: 2
long flashes, pause and then 3 short flashes = 23 = P0325 = Knock sensor circuit fault (4 cyl only).
One short flash = 1. One long flash = 10. If there is no trouble codes, the light will not flash.

I don't think that the code has anything to do with the fuel in your tank. It is correct that if the fuel tanker shows up, don't fill your car because you will end up with crap in your tank. The code you have is saying that there is aproblem in the knock sensor circuit. THe knock sensor tells the comptuer that fuel has not be combusted correctly. It might be that you have a broken connector or a broken wire somewhere that might be causing the problem. What car do you have (coupe, sedan and ex, lx or dx). I'll try to look into the code some more.
Are you guys instructed to sell customers crap that they may not need? It sounded like the guy at autozone read the code for him and told him some BS to get him to buy some fuel cleaner. I dunno if that stuff even works. BTW, if your gonna get any fuel system/engine cleaner get SeaFoam, everyone seems to like it.
Its a DX-as far as the Autozone guy selling me injector cleaner, in all fairness, he did not necessarily outright suggest I buy it....he indicated the injectors may be fouled from the fuel, causing the problem....I brought up the injector cleaner. So either he was simply selling me what I asked for, or did a great job in finding a way to sell me something. Either way, it was $5 for the can(btw, it was the sea foam), so if it does not work, I am only out $5....and he did pop the hood, to see if there was anything obvious that was loose/disconnected.
CEL is still on, but unless she is in danger of getting stuck somewhere, I will give it a week or so, and fill up with fresh gas, and see if that does the trick....and I will snoop around for a loose wire...knowing little about engines now, any idea where I should be looking?
