Compression Test

Compression Test
OK, so, I'm trying to do a compresson test following Haynes' instructions. I get it all except for the step that says to take out the fuel pump fuse. Now, does he mean disconnecting the PGM-FI main relay? Or is it an actual fuse in the fuse block? My head hurts from trying to understand the wiring diagrams, lol.
But anyways, I was thinking that it would work just as well if I disconnect the main relay, right?

RE: Compression Test
or a really easy thing to do is pull all the spark plug wires off the plugs and lay them ontop the engine, thats what i do, just dont make sure you are leaking any fuel near the plug wires, if you do disconnect the fuel pump the car is gonna start and run for a couple minutes until it shuts off..

RE: Compression Test
I just did this last Friday. In the fuse box inside of the car, you will find the 10a fuse for the fuel pump. Its in the middle row, left hand side, about 3-5 fuses in from the side. Pull ALL of your spark plugs out of the motor and set them, and the wires aside. Get in the car, put the accelerator to the floor, and crank it five times. I was a bit unclear on the "crank five times" but Patrick cleared it up for me. You want it to go "rer rer rer rer rer". That will give you your most accurate numbers.
What car are you doing the test on?

RE: Compression Test
It's a 92 Civic. There's a plastic thingie on the cover of the fuse block under the d/b that tells you what each fuse does but there was nothing that concerned fuel management. They were mainly for lights. How did you know which fuse it was exactly?
