Default fuel gauge problem

i replaced my civic dx instrument cluster a long time ago with an ex cluster with the tach. the entire cluster works perfectly EXCEPTfor the fuel gauge. it continuously shows that i have a full tank whether i do or don't. it has shown this since i replaced the cluster. so then i put my original cluster in and it then read that i have a full tank all of the time too. i don't know what to do for it now. it's really getting on my nerves with all of the gas station trips. i was wondering if a sensor somewhere is messed up or something in the gas tank is stuck, just not sure. any thoughts would be nice.

It could be as simple as a wire from sending unit to the gauge...

Hmm, service manual devotestwo full letter size pages to the testing of fuel gauge and sending unit. Sorry, but I'm kind of lazy to re-type all this here for you. If you don't have the manual, try to search this site, I remember people were posting links to the scanned service manuals somewhere on the web. When you find or buy one, it's in "Electrical" chapter, pages 23-143 and 23-144 for92-95 model that I have.
