Default OBDII to OBDI conversion question

I have the p2p ECU running my y8 but I know you can't do **** with that ECU. I've been told I could get a p28 ECU and get some gains out of it...would would I need to do in order to get the gains from it? I have an i/h/e, stage 2 comp cam/springs, no cat, and no a/c. What sort of gains have all of you personally seen from this conversion? Thanks for any help you can give me

Default RE: OBDII to OBDI conversion question

Are you talking gains as in HP or gains as in positive things that come out of switching ecu's? You won't see much if any power gains, but with the p28 you can chip them to switch rev limiter, and completley disengage a speed limiter if your car has one. Also they are more friendly to tune with, not as harsh on you when you're switching fuel settings and vtec engagement points and all that. As far as acquireing one, go on ebay and do a search for p28 ecu. The ecu will run about 170 bucks, and then you have to buy a conversion harness for another 80 I think?? I bought the two from someone as a combo and got it for 200 bucks together, but it will run a little more if you buy them seperate. This is a must if you want to do any serious tuning IMO. The chips are really cheap like 35 bucks. If you are really good at soldering you dont' ahve to get the conversion harness, but I didnt' want to waste five hours of my life trying to figure it all out, so I got one. Good luck!
