Default Tuning a car with a turbo

I am going to purchase a turbo kit....not sure if i want to piece together one or but a greddy one. But the questions is how hard is it to tune the turbo and the engine with a turbo set up. I know im a noob so any information would be helpful. I reason i ask is there is no dyno in town or anywhere that i know that i would send the car. I didnt know if you needed to dyno while tuning or if there was a program that i could just set everythin from a manual. I want to run 8 psi on a stock engine and i know you do that with a boost controller. I figure i would ask the people on here because of the experience. Also how much horsepower would be expected from a b18C1 with a greddy turbo kit? Thanks for the input guys

not to be a dick about it or anyhting but its not easy. not easy at all unless you understand how to set up the timing curves and set the fuel curves.

its not something that very many people can do. so my advice would be to find someone that can tune it ( like a shop) and drive there and have it tuned.

aight thanks. I kinda figured but i had hoped it wouldnt be that hard. Another thing. Is there a ecu chip or anythin that would already have it built in for what i would need? Haha and i know you werent bein a dick. I figured it would be hard as ****.

tuning is def. something you should leave to the experts. if you have to drive 100 miles to find an experienced tuner it will defintely be worth the trip. You can tune a car w/o a dyno, it's called street tuning, but if you want to mess with the timing then you need a dyno. No there isn't a chip that will just plug and play for your car. You have to have it tuned by a professional. Also you don't need a boost controller(tho there are nice to have so you can raise or lower boost)to run 8 psi, you can get a 8 psi spring for your wastegate.I don't know what size turbo the greddy kit comes with so i don't know how much power you will get, if i were to guess probably around 240whp

I have to say tuning is only hard if you dont watch how it is done. Ive tuned many cars to include my own wich was my first tune ever. I knew I was in some trouble when the car didnt crank after screwing with the ecu and fuel curves. shizt started rolling down hill. All I did was ask a few people on forums just lkike this and I found that it was helpfull. Now tunning my car is easy but a gamble none the less. Good luck and if you take it to get tuned watch every move they make on that computer.

well i wanted to keep anyone updated that cared. A lady pulled out on me on the highway and i totaled my car. So instead i found a boosted engine and but that in another civic. Thanks for everyones input. And it is a B18C1 which in my opinion was a necesity.

Youve got a nice setup. That engine has made 500WHP on stock internals (other cars). GReddy kit for that motor is a 18G turbo.....figure 230-250 whp. Youd be much better with a custom kit. Get a GT35 or a SC61 turbo.....dont cheap out on the turbine.....its the heart and soul of your WHP. Check out Garrett and Precision
