Tuning Info

As some of you may know, I'm closing in on finishing my all motor build. I still need to know the best way to go about tuning the ecu after I get the motor in the car. My first question is, since I'm building a JDM D15b should I have the tuner change the basemap to a P08 setup or will just tuning the P28 do the job? Secondly, what would be the most efficient and easy way to have it tuned? Like would buying something from Hondata make the process a little better? Lastly, should I tow the car to the shop for a tune or try and drive it on the stock P28 ecu around 10-15 miles? Or would it be easier to just purchase a P08 ecu? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Definitely do not drive it untuned...especially if you do not have a wideband and a/f gauge to monitor it. I would get is towed to the tuner.

About the tuning program, check with your tuner to see what he/she likes best. But for me... mmmmmm s300 yesssss

See, I don't even know how the tuning process goes. What exactly is the s300 from Hondata?

Are you planning on tuning yourself? When my buddy and I tune, we start from the stock p28 tune (oem d16z6/y8 tune) almost everytime in order to start fresh and work everything out. It usually takes about 2-3 hours total.

Is it really worth the price considering that if I didn't buy this I would have to figure out how to tow my car to the tuner and pay them to maybe do something that I could easily do myself with something like this. Also, which one would be best for my setup? (s100, s200 or s300)

I would suggest the s300 definitely if you tune it yourself. I would not trust your newly built motor with no tuning experience. If you do, research research research. If anything, practice tuning on your current motor, so if it dies, then your not totally S.O.L. I guess

Good idea. Does anyone sell the program cheaper?
