Hi all,
just got a 2000 hatchback type r with a custom turbo kit from japan. Car is running stock engine with Greddy t57 turbo and Apexi FC commander. The car is set to 10psi and came running rich, for the past 3 nights we have been mapping the car, getting the AFR's to the correct range (12:1 to 11.6:1 on boost). My issues is that even at idle ( ign timing 16) the Apexi is picking up a high knock value ( 16 - 20) and when driving on boost it the knock reaches as high as 50. what can this be? the fuel here is 91 oct. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Was the car tuned on 93 octane (or for that matter, race gas?)
