Default Type of Computer??

I recently sold my mustang and broke down and bought a civic. You guys are all geat and are very helpful. I bought a 98 civic ex and the previous owner put in a 2000 B16A motor w/trans out of a wrecked si. It currently has the original computer from the old original engine. I have the computer that came from the si but it is not installed because he said it needssome type of anadapter. He said as long as I don't put the engine in high rpm's such as over 6000 PM, the original computer will be ok. But if it gets up over 6000 RPM the motor can get possibly get damaged from the computer reading to lean. I am a newbie when it comes down to computers. I thought I would check in with you guys on your point of views. Should I go ahead and change the computer? Thanks in advance.

I would need a OBD2a to OBD2b ECU Conversion Harness. Correct?
