Default VSS trouble code, no problem with speedo

Just like the title says. I pulled two codes yesterday, one was primary o2 (I can deal with that), but the other is for the VSS.

I know where it is, how to fix it, etc.. What I don't understand is why it isn't messing with my speedo at all, but still throwing the code.

I haven't had a chance to clean it or anything yet as I am still at work, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this?

I had the same problem, it ended up being oil getting between the contacts.
