86 CRX, blown head gasket. Options?
So, like the title says, I think the head gasket blew. Been overheating for a few months, finally choked. The antifreeze is still mostly green, but has a nice brown color to it now.
My question is what is my best option? The car only cost me $800 and has been great for the last 5 months until this. It has some good rust (A-pillars are rusted through) so I don't think I can sell it as is. I can do the work myself, so changing the head gsaket seems like it would be the cheapest option. A gasket set on ebay is $60, t-belt is $35, H2O pump is $35, maybe $100 for head work, so around $300 for parts to get it going again. It seems like that would barely cover a replacement motor if i went with a whole swap. So, do I junk it, fix the head gasket, or swap the motor? I am leaning towards fixing it, just wondering what you all thought. Thanks. |

Well... To be honest... Neither... Sell it on eBay. List it as a blown head gasket and take pictures. People will still eat it up... I'd give it a call of going at $200...

if you need a daily beater, just fix it and drive it. just keep it running good, don't bother fixing it up
