b series swap

im planning on doing a b series swap either a b16, b18 or b20 swap and was wondering if anyone had any input as to either if its a PIA to do or anything else?

These days it isnt too bad. The b16 has tons of aftermarket support thought alsmot all motors of that generation are swapable.

Im not going to pretend like I know from experience or anything, but based of what ive read i think im more interested in the b18 than the b16. The b18 suffers from slightly less hp but should be a hell of a lot cheaper and have more torque than the b16 if I did my homework correctly. No idea about the ease of the swap.

my homework has shown the same, and the b20 is still cheaper has an 8.8 compression ratio, but only 126 hp and 131 tq, but with the 8.8 compression ratio it will favor turboing down the road

if anyone wants the old d15b let me know and we can work something out

B16 = the most overrated honda engine ever built. It's little more than a d16z6 with an extra cam... 160bhp and a whopping what, 120 ft*lbs of torque? All for $3k-$4k by the time it's in the car.

Forget B-series engines... H22a or bust :D

Seriously, for a b-series look into the B18b1 or B18c1. The b1 makes 140bhp and the c1 makes 170bhp. Not to mention they're both amazing engines for boost. Also, if you go b20, I'd recommend a CR-Vtec; b20 block with a b16/b18 vtec head. Also, if you didn't already know (I'd assume you do but just in case) you'll have to use the transmission from a b16/b18 for the b20 to work in your car.

Don't get a B20 for boost, get a B18. A B20 block is an overbored B18 block, meaning is has weaker cylinder walls. If you want low compression get a B18B1. Plus, it has 140hp.

B16's are overrated and garbage engines.

I have a B18b1, and im happy with it. It pulls much harder than the D. With the low compression, its perfect for boost. Only thing I dont like, is that it isnt VTEC. I have yet to have a VTEC honda haha. There is still plenty of aftermarket support for it too.

i planned on going with the b18b1, or the b20b (later turning it into a cr-vtec)
and using the b18 tranny, what i would like to do down the road is tha crv awd swap, but i still have a lot more planning and part hunting to do for that swap

Im not a B20 fan. I think boost is a little better route than LS/V or CR/V. Its more power for similar costs. Once you get the VTEC head, water pump, timing belt, VTEC conversion kit, head gasket, ECU, and tuning/install its going to cost a good bit of money.
