d16y5/y8 swap into ef

Please I need some help! Recently my tranny completely busted in my ef standard d15b1. I found a guy with a d16y5 with a y8 vtec head and transmission. Includes everything but mounts and harness. Could anyone tell me what I need? Like mounts, would I need to switch it to obd1 and get a p28 ecu? Just anything I need or need to do please. I need my car to run for work and such. Thank you.

its gonna be alot more work than what your willing to do, his trans is hydro and yours is cable. it would be alot easier and cheapier to buy another cable trans, now you can use the engine and bolt it upto your car but guessing your car is dpfi you will need to convert it to mpfi then convert it to obd1 and get a conversion harness to plug up a p28 ecu.

Wouldn't I have to do that for any engine swap I did? Unfortunately

just get another cable trans for your car to fix your problem. now if you want to swap the engine your cable trans will bolt up to any d15 or d16. you can swap any d15 or d16 engine into your car and just put your dpfi intake manifold and stuff onto the new motor, but if you want to have more power then you will need to swap the dpfi to mpfi. then if you wanna run vtec you will need to convert to obd1 and use a p28 ecu.

Okay this is what I came up with. I'm gonna pick up a 5 speed cable transmission from the junk yard. with 130k miles. Then I'm gonna save up for a dohc zc and swap it in later. So I know I'll have to switch that to mpfi then I found gettin an 89 teg ecu would be best, would I still have to switch it to obd1?

if you can find a 88-91 civic or crx with mpfi in a junk yard grab, whole complete intake with fuel injectors and rail with wiring harness and the computer(pm6) and the distributor you can convert your engine to mpfi first. then swapping in any other engine will be a breeze. also you can stay obd0

is your car dpfi or mpfi? if your dpfi you will need to convert to mpfi first.

to swap from d series to b series there is tons and tons and tons of info about it already posted. use the search feature. you will need everything.
