Default franken engine

i have a 91 hatch a buddy of mine has a 94 v-tec block w/ a 99 v-tec head. he says he doesn't know if you can make it work and i didn't know if it would work so i decided to ask. also which ecu and tranny would i need.

p.s. if this is all to complicated what could i swap for 600 dollars i have free labor because i got to school for automotive tech and have a full shop. any info would be helpful

hey, welcome to the forum, Man.

Yeah, that'll work. I'm not sure about your tranny though. You will probably need the 5th or 6th gen D series tranny.

I dunno if you meant Franken engine as in an experiment, but the Frankenstein is the B series vtec head swap.

yeah as in just throwing whatever i got laying around together, i was hoping to use the tranny from my 4thgen, but i know i need an ecu its just do i need one that covers the cam or the crank(94 or 99) i can wire anything up even if i have to make a harness as long as the ecu works

use the vtec ecu from the 94, its obd1 and easier to tune with. youre gonna have some isues no matter how you do this, but that would be the best end result. and you can use the 4th gen tranny, but one from a 91 Si would have the best ratios.
