Need help on engine swap !!!!

I have a1989 crx And i think the motor might go bad because it blows alot of grey smoke when i rev it up or it might need a good tune up because its has been sitting for about 2 years.Do i need a new motor? And if so should i put a gsr motor in it ? what parts do i need to make it a successfull project?

You could do a compression test on it.

sitting for 2 years..... the best way to check your engine i agree is a simple compression test but you need to do a dry test first and then a wet test to check the conditions of your rings and find any head gasket issues. Also a flush of all your fluid systems and some fuel system cleaning might help.

You have to remember how old your engine is. Of course it will probably smoke a little. Inspect your engine seals and the block and head. You have to ask yourself some questions: Is it eating oil, is it missing, is there loss of power, Is there oil on the seals, pull your plugs-is there oil on them? The guys are right though everythings easier when you start from the worst case scenario. Hell, if you can afford to put a gsr in it do it. You will be so incredibly happy with the results you will come back and brag later. Im not a pro crxer, but if its anything like the civic which I think it is I think you will need the engine/tranny, everything else(ecu, distributer, starter, alternator, fuel rails, injectors, plugs, wires, intake/exhaust manifold, ac unit, ps unit, etc), motor mounts, shift linkage, integra axles, maybe hubs, throttle cable. Is yours vtec? how about mpfi? manual? Keep in mind many of these things will or could come in a package deal, shop around. Oh, and make sure you have all the tools you may need with the biggest expense being the hoist, but you can rent that.

Next time you post write in trimlines and simple specs(mileage is helpful for diagnosis) for us more mentally handicaped
