Default 95 DX Motor Swap HELP Plz!!!

I bought a 95 civic DX and drove it for 2 weeks, then come to find out the head gasket is blown and antifreeze leaks into the cylinders causeing the car to over heat. THis is a nightmare. I'm hoping the head and block aren't cracked. Is there anything I could do to salvage this engine. If not, I would like to get another d15 motor and try to do the swap by myself. what should I do??? thanks guys.

Yea Have you pulled the head off yet? If so it could be 2 things either the head gasket or a cracked head. But start by pulling the head.

i would look into getting another engine and learn to do the swap. Its not that expensive of a swap, its good learning, and then if your other motor isnt damaged, you could learn to rebuild it, and have a spare motor should anything go wrong with the other.

Yes it will. If I were you, I'd just look for a d16z6 to drop in. The only wiring diffrence is teh two wires that go from the Vtec solenoid to the ECU. Everything else just bolts right up! And teh engine is MUCH better. Really if you think about it, you can get a long block for 200 bucks. The headgasket alone will cost 50! You may as well get an engine with less miles and more hp!
They're also still pretty good on gas mileage.

If I was you, I would swap for a D15B. It's a SOHC VTEC motor for the year of that civic. I have a 1992 Civic HB and I'm having the same problem. I've had my car since it was brand new in 92. There is an engine place called Enginesus. It's on ebay. The guy has a 100% positive feedback rating. He's also sold hundreds of them. I'm purchasing mine tomorrow. I hope this helps...

unless you are really pushing for performance, just pull the head, have it tested and milled and replace the gasket, it's a weekend job after you get the head back even for a novice. make sure you get a new timing belt and water pump while you are at it..
