Bought a Civic, now i want a LS in it... help newbie

Ok. Im a die hard muscle car guy and the gas milage thing just started to kick my ass.

I bought a Canadian coupe for $100 that is clean as hell with no motor (i could have payed a tiny bit more and got it with the SOHC v-tec,
but something was wrong with it... and i dont know hondas well enough to fix motor problems). I have been told the LS motor is a strong motor
that loves boost. So this is the swap I *think* im going with.

How much are the motors and are their any cheaper, better motors for this swap and application (turbo...)???

Im not sure what the calling number is for a LS motor (or whatever, the model number thing so I can find one easier), so
if anyone could tell me that it would help out.

Is there any special parts that I will need to plop it into my car?

Thanks!

the motor is called a b18a or a b18b for the later models. if you are going light on boost, then you might consider a b20b from a CR-V, which is a 2 liter version of the ls motor, but it has thinner sleeves, so it wont stand up to as much abuse as the b18. for more money, you can look into a vtec motor, which is made stronger and makes more power due to the multiple cam profiles, but with boost the LS will make plenty of power. the cost of the b18c, b18c1, and b18c5 are over double the price of a b18b or a b20.

a full b18b swap can be had for under 2k easily, sometimes a lot cheaper. if youre handy with tools and the internet, you can do the swap yourself, if not, figure in 500-1000 more for labor. its all Honda parts to do the swap, but it depends on the year of the car and the motor. where are you located?

Im in Wyoming.. i have a lot of Honda friends and one who has done a ton of swaps and does them right (and in about 2 hours.. lol). So doing it is no problem.. free labor.. lol
