h-22a in a 2000 civic
i have a 2000 civic se with a h-22a in it and as far as getting it in you can but not much room left after and the price to do it was well over 8k and for all the haters out there its nothing like a lude , how ever fuel mileage is not the best but when you make a car like this you dont do it for the fuel mileage lol you do it so you can turn heads and fool others with out a sleeper

You got ripped off. Even if you replace the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, plugs, wires, and clutch it should be half that. Unless you have a shop do it, in which case you're paying $90+/hr for probably about 10-12 hours of labor. Even that shouldn't be anywhere near $8,000 though.
Even an H2B with a custom B-series transmission (playing with the gearing, meaning you need two transmissions to make one) will be well under $8k.

Being a professional mechanic, I do know how labor cost/labor times are.
It still shouldn't have been over $8kCAN. $4,000USD will cover the cost of the longblock, trans, ECU, mounts, axles, harness, clutch, plugs, wires, water pump, timing belt, and timing belt tensioner. I have a feeling the tuning added to the cost quite a bit, as well as the labor time (I can't see it being under 10 hours, so you have almost $1,000 in labor alone).

1. its vtec.
2. it's not really worth it. yeahhhh it's brutal fast. but to much money. k20a2. cheaper to swap in and almost the power. but hey. if you do it it'll be sick. keep us posted.
oopsies. didn't see the second page. or how old this thread is. i need to just go to bed.

^ A K20 isn't cheaper to swap in than an H22. For the most part, you're going to pay as much for the K20 long block, trans, and PCM as you would for an entire H22 swap (assuming you do the swap yourself). I guess it depends on what deals you get, though... back in Wyotech a student was selling a K20A3 long block, trans, and PCM for like $350 just to get rid of it (he swapped in a K20A2). If I still had a civic at the time, I would've scooped it up in a heartbeat.
Anyway, 300km/tank is definitely low. Has the fuel filter been changed? As a rule of thumb, you should be seeing about the same fuel economy as a prelude. Is it running rich?
