well with a known good ecu tried and still not working, chipping isn't gonna do **** fella. look to other things, any CELs, when is the last time the cap rotors and plug wires were changed? how are your stpark plugs?

my car did the exact same thing (d16z6) w/p28 ecu too..what i did was i changed the rotor, cap, spark plugs, FUEL FILTER do that b/c i changed everything and forgot to change that and when i did it stopped being gay, spark plug wires, and change your oil and it should do it...those are the things i did and its perfectly fine..all it needed was a little bit of a tune up

redlining isn't really bad, overrevving is. the honda engineers made the decision that the 7200 rpm limit on the tach is AOK for relialbility, but max power is at 6800rpm, so there is no need to go that high.
now redlining in every gear everytime you get in the car is bad, we call that abuse, and it makesyourcar as reliableas an 86 ford escort with 130,000 miles on it.
