Default need some swap help

plan to swap in a gsr motor soon, now ppl tell me 2 do it myself, i dont have proper tools and im not to mechanically inclined and have practically no wiring skills, should i have a tuner shop do it or should i take the risk of messing it up and trying to do it myself, will i have to get the car retimed??, also what parts do u recommend i change on the motor before swapping it in?

Default RE: need some swap help

I say do it yourself... maybe get some friends that know what they're doing to help if you can. Rent an engine hoist from Autozone or something. You shouldn't need to have the car re-timed as far as I know (or at least I've never heard anything about it).

Before you swap in the new motor, just do basic maintenance; plugs, wires, dizzy, fuel filter, etc. I'd recommend replacing the clutch, too. If you're going to modify the engine eventually, do some of the planned mods while the engine is out of the car. Throwing a header onjust seems like it'd be a lot easier with the engine out of the car to me.
