B16A2 swap....
Right now, I've got a 98 EX coupe. Since I've decided to get an engine swap rather than a turbo....man, this is causing me headaches! Basically, because of emissions. Right now in the military (Ft. Stewart, GA), but will be going back to Maryland once I get out, and to my dismay discovered that they seem to have rather stringent emissions laws. I'd still like to do a swap tho, so I settled on the B16A2 from a USDM Si. Mainly, like I said, because of emissions legality, etc. First, does anyone know of a spot that sells this kind of swap package? I've found JDM engine sites all over the place, but no spots that sell a USDM B16A2 swap. Other than that, has anyone performed a swap with another engine, and
still passed emissions? Keep in mind, tho, that I havta to follow the "same year or newer car, OBD version cannot be swapped" standard. I wouldn't mind a B16B, truthfully...I like the idea of having a CTR engine. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: After further searching for about an hour after this post, I found this: http://www.jaydm.com/usdm.htm
After looking at this, I'm guessing that USDM B16A2s are very hard to come by, because they specifically state something like "NO CASUAL INQUIRIES".....so the motor
package is prolly pretty expensive. I'm beginning to wonder if it'd be less painful to just sell my car and hunt for a used 6th gen Si

Hey whats up. I just did the B16A swap into my car, and lo and behold found out about the OBD stuff about $3000 too late [
] So now I have a 2000 with an OBD1 B16a that goes pretty good but isn't street legal. I did however find out that when I plug my OBD2 ECU in that the only code I am throwing is my Crank position sensor, so now I am in the process of rectifying that. If all goes well I will still be emissions compliant and have a great cheat to get through emissions with. I will post it when I figure it out.
