Default D16y7

Ok i have a D16y7 sohc (about 106 stock)there is alot of talk about people doing swaps and boosting and just boosting their d-series engines...I was wondering if it would be better for me to either stick with the d16y7 and boost it, or for me to do a swap like a b16 or b18 and thenboost??

B16a2: 168hp@7800rpm
D16z6: 125hp@5200rpm

i found those specs, and i guess it is a little bit of a difference, but it seems like a boosted D would be about as equal as a stock B, so do whatever you want. I say swap in a D16z6 or y8 and boost that, not spend $2000+ on a B, and then an extrta $1500 on boost. The B will you give you more power right out of the box, but personally i'm down for the D

For under $2000 you can have a 200 hp d16. Try finding a b-series motor that has 200 hp that is under $2000, hell even $3000. Find a z6 or do a mini-me and then boost it. You will love yourself.
