DOHC Engine Swap

I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX with a stock motor in it right now.
I would like to do an engine swap with a DOHC Vtec so I can put a turbo on it.

Im hoping anyone can give me a good site where I can find the motor. Preferably 100% complete engine.

And I was wondering if this one would work in my car:

Help or advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you

u can turbo your current engine, but I would look on craigslist for local listings, usually you can find lots of engines there.

and if you get a b16 I think you're going to need a tranny to match, new engine mounts(from 99-00 si), some shift linkage and axles.

just google search

I know I can put a turbo on my current engine, but its just the stock engine and I wanna make it faster. Awesome, Thanks. Ill look into that.

Im also wondering, I've heard a lot of different things about the differences about EX, LX, DX and all that stuff. What is the real difference between them?

DX is the base model... basic engine, no power options. LX is the mid range model... base engine, basic power options;sunroof,windows,locks..ect...EX is top of the line model.. better engine, all power options, power sunroof, and maybe alloys instead of steelies.

i think thats most of the difference.

note: this is only true for civics made before 2000, and possibly also 01-05 (is not always true for air conditioning because some dealers such as ones in FL install a/c into the DX model when they get the car)

DX= base engine, no power anything
LX= DX+power locks, power windows, power mirrors, power steering, A/C
EX= LX+VTEC engine (only in cars '92+), sunroof, cruise control, tweeters added to stereo system

only thing i'm not entirely sure about is the power mirrors, but I am pretty sure the LX had it

If you swap in a dohc.... its still stock... its a honda engine, then if you turbo it its not stock... then again if you turbo the d series in your car its not stock then either.
you, google, and the search button should become buddies for a week or two before you do anything.

Swaps are good but that b16b is not what u want its a great engine but not to turbo i would look at the b16a much cheaper and lower compression if you are boosting it without changing the bottom that is the way to go. However also consider boosting ur current engine just changing pistons and rods swap to headstuds and turbo it and you can make more power than a stock DOHC motor. Now if you build the B it will make more in the end depends on ur budget and what you want.

If the OP is not super obsessed with power, I would just turbo his current motor if I were him and aim for 200-200 WHP. If it's in good condition with good compression, his engine can handle it and that should be plenty of power to most people, unless 220 WHP isn't enough for him.
