Hi, im just about to buy a 1999 honda civic dx hatchback. i was just wondering if its hard to put in a vtec head for this car, and what is necessary/costs. OR to just do a simple engine swap, i know the swaps cost about a $1000 give or take with a b16a2, or are there any other options (no boosts) or any other engines that are worth buying. i need answers, thanks guys

im a newbie, but here is what i found while searching for my swap...

a b16a2 with tranny, axles, ecu, harness, shift linkage, etc, will run youjust over$2000. plus you will need to spend close to $500 for the right mounts to make it drop in properly. forabout $1000 more you can get a full b18c gsr swap.

i decided to go with the gsr swap.

if you buy a motor from ebay, never pay with western union, cash, or a money order. you will never see your motor or your money. use paypal only!

read the forums and ask lots of questions.

you wont find a b16 swap for a grand. All misc. expenses will keep adding up. best thing to do,within your budget, is to do is keep the D, and do a mini-me swap and get a tranny from a Ex, which has shorter gears which is great. That shouldnt run you over a grand if you source your parts right. But if you want to swap, prepare to spend at least 3 grand or more.
