illegal?
i heard from Texas DPS that if u have an OBD-2 car and u try to swap in an OBD-1 or OBD-0 engine then technically that is illegal. i really don't give a s*it about "illegal" i care more about the fact that when it comes time to inspect my car will they actually pass me or tell me to follow rules and get an OBD-2 engine? Thanx. Sorries for yall who know me and haven't seen me in awhile. i've been stalking all the honda forums for awhile. LOL.

RE: illegal?
'Tis true my friend. Most states dont' allow backward swapping. You could put a OBD-2 into a 5th gen, but not the other way around.

RE: illegal?
i have a 99 dx and swapped a obd1 motor in my car. most inspetion stations don't know what every car has in it plus my sticker is gone from under the hood so they just shook there head and passed it

RE: illegal?
not that I have any plans to swap an engine or anyting....but thank GOD that I still have the freedom to do whatever I want to my car......test pipe, engine swap, anything.

RE: illegal?
backwards swapping has been going on since the olden days. lol.
it's called hot-rodding. just don't lift the hood. lol. |
RE: illegal?
Actually, it would be pretty easy for the guy at the inspection place to go. I've been there with my mom's accord. THe guy will come over and put his computer/scan tool on the DLC on the OBD II car. Now if you bring ur 96+ car and it doesn't have the OBD II DLC , he is gonna know something is up. And the OBDI DLC on my EG is impossible to find, i still have no idea where it is.
