The search feature is your friend;). It's up on the top row of links (that starts with Honda Civic Forum, Classifieds, etc.). Click on it and type in what you're looking for... there's a ton of information on this site about different swaps, their pros/cons, and their prices.

How many miles are on your civic? Civics generally run for a loooooooong time if taken care of (200k miles is nothing), so you might not even really need to swap.

And what's your budget? What are your goals (do you plan on turboing or keeping it all-motor)?

well, with $5k, you're going to be limited on which motor you get if you want a turbo to be in the budget. Generally, a b18c swap and an h22a swap will be around $4k by the time it's in the car and running. The b16a will be slightly less (I'd say $3k-$4k), and they're great engines to boost. Also, the b18b will be about the same price as the b16a, but unfortunately it's not vtec (personally, I wouldn't give up your vtec, but that's just me).

If I were you, I'd check into b16 swaps... they love boost, they're inexpensive ($2250 I believe for basically all you need for the swap), and their gears are nice and short (meaning quick acceleration).

One thing you have to remember with swaps is that you have a good $1,000 of high-wear item replacement (things like the water pump, timing belt, clutch, ignition system, etc). Also, with the b16 and the b18's, they basically drop right in (using the b-series motor's stock mounts). For the h22, you need to get custom mounts and axles to get it to fit.
