usdm vs. jdm
any difference in the wiring of the usdm vs. jdm swaps into a 6th generation DX for like a GSR setup? just looking at the usdm considering emissions.

RE: usdm vs. jdm
what state you live in? i hope not cali.
cali has some sooper strict emmissions requirements and the refs are getting so good that they can spot JDM swaps pretty fast. JDM engines typically have slightly higher compression compared to their USDM counterparts. this may be part of the reason why some JDM swaps fail ref tests alot. I read that the JDM ECU may also play a part. whatever, the reason, check with your local emmissions laws to see whats legal and whats not. most states require engine swaps to be the same year as the car its going in OR NEWER. not older. that means if you have an 98, then you should have a 98 JDM/USDM engine swap or newer. this is part of the reason there isn't much support for b-series swaps in newer EKs. you either get custom engine mounts and try to evade emissions testing or just buy a newer engine, such as the backwards-rotating k20s. |
RE: usdm vs. jdm
damm. i forgot to even answer the first part of your question. lol.
yes, some minor tweaking my be required depending on your setup. this MAY or may not apply to you: http://hondaswap.com/hybrid-eg-ek-dc...x-hellp-80280/ |
RE: usdm vs. jdm
What do you mean "backwards-rotating k20s?"
|
RE: usdm vs. jdm
they spin in the opposite direction of D and B series engines.

RE: usdm vs. jdm
The driveshaft rotates the 'wrong' way.
EDIT: You beat me to it!!! |
RE: usdm vs. jdm
Thats what I thought I just don't understand why they do?
