What's the best swap for a 97 civic dx hb
I was wondering what would be the easiest, cheapest and best swap to perform on my 97 Honda Civic DX HB. I wanted to drop in an h22a but my funds are limited, I just want to get some more power but not put a huge dent in my wallet. I was also thinking about just doing a mini head swap and making it v-tec but I'm not sure everything that I would need to go about it. Anyway have any suggestions??

Im new to the Honda World So im not sure all the motor numbers and whats better, but i also have a 97 HX coup though not HB, but what im gonna do i throw in a 00 Si motor and buy a Greddy turbo kit, from what im told i will be going from 115hp (stock) to about 206-226 hp (stock motor with turbo kit) then im going to throw in a Flowmaster 60 ser. ( i know that flow is not what most do but i swear by flowmaster so im going to stick with what i know works) mixed with a aftermarket high flow cat (I live in cali so i have to also abide by smog regulations) Which should give me another 10 or so Hp. Next im going to buy a K&N ram kit (again i swear by K&N because i know they work well) which will give me about 5.6 HP. I already have a stage 2 clutch and a short throw shifter (came with the car). So far thats all i have planned for my car. Im open for sudgestions and comments but i hope that kinda helps with your ? ttyl man Good Luck.

An H22 is definitely not the easiest, but it's a monster and it is a little cheaper than some of the other options. Without knowing your budget it's hard to say what a "huge dent" would be in your wallet, but a mini-me will run you ~ $400 and is usually good for ~ 30hp and is definitely easier than a motor swap. There is a write up in the DIY section complete with a shopping list.

Thread jack.....
-I have a dx hatchback as well. Do people go out there way to get a hatchback? It seems getting an ex would be a better option! I believe getting the integra 1.8 and adding a turbo would be a good option for dx owners.
- My car has serious traction problems in the snow. Does the ex or si has lsd?
