I am very new to trying to make them go fast. I am a all show no go guy! I have a 2001 Civic Ex, it is sporting a 1.7 V TEC SOHC and I am wanting more out of this car than just show!!! Please give me some tips or advice on what to do. I have already done the basics... Cold air intake, exhaust header and dual exhaust. I am wanting to find out what I can change head wise to make this thing a monster! Thanks for any info!!

 

the d17 is not going to be any kind of "monster" without about $10,000 in custom work and forced induction (give or take a few thousand)

if anything, just work on suspension and wheels and tires

You need an older civic. With a 1.6. nunless you wanna dish out the 6k to get a K series.

 

That is what I have been told, get the older Civic motor or switch cars!! Do you know if one of the older Civic motors will fit or is there a lot of change over? Would it be worth it?

 

I also heard that I can put a b18 dohc head onto this block and that would help a bunch, does anyone know if that will work? i am trying to research something, but right now I am falling a liitle short!

got to stick with the same engine codes d, b ,k, and so on buddy. just get a d16

 

It is illegal to put an older engine into a new car. The engine needs to be out of a car of the same year or newer. Swap in a k series from the new civic si's or an rsx.
