First and foremost, you have to set goals. What kind of power do you want to put down? What kind of torque numbers? What's your budget? You have to keep those kinds of things in mind when planning any kind of engine work.

D16Y8, good motor for boost and with the right build and tune you can make your goals on it.

i was thinking one of them to then i have to get injectors and a fuel pump.. what else would be needed in the fuel area

norbster86 02-03-2010 05:32 AM

I think that's it in the fuel area, someone else could maybe help out tho.

After that it's head studs and new head gasket. You're gonna want to drop the oil pan and put in a high flow oil pump. You might as well put on a new timing belt (and water pump, I swear they should just package them together ;) ) at that point too.

If the head is left stock, I don't think you're gonna hit 300 horse. More like a little over 200... Just my 2 cents.

Might wanna do at least SOME research. If your gonna buy a full kit and it costs less than 3K than it is crap. Don't waste your time.

If you buy one of those kits expect to constantly replace parts as the break. Piece together a kit yourself for a cheap kit.
