1997 Civic Ex Mods
Im looking for suggestions on what else I can do to modify the engine of my civic that will provide noticeable gain without breaking my bank account. I have AEM short ram intake, DC sport 4,2,1 header, and Magna flow full exhaust. I was looking to add adjustable cams, and underdrive pulley, I am going to purchase racing plugs and wires and was trying to decide home much gain would I get from adding an 8lb flywheel and stage 2 or 3 clutch kit. After all these additions are done I would like to go to a dynoshop and have my car fine tuned for optimum performance. These parts are not installed so I would like to get some feedback from the congregation before I do anything. If anyone has any suggestions on adding deleting or what course of action might work better for me please let me know. I would like to build my car from the engine first so any and all sugestions are welcome. Thank You
You don't need a stage 2 or 3 clutch unless your putting down a lot of power. Unless you just want a clutch that is harder to push down there is no need for it. You could get a stage 2 or 3 cam along with the adjustable cam gear but you have to have it tuned but you said you want to do that anyway. Underdrive pullys might give you some troubles with the a/c and power steering at idol and only give you 1 or 2 hp so some say that it is not worth it but I have no experience with them. If you want to put some more money into it then you could get a supercharger or nitrous. I don't say turbo because you already bought bolt ons and that money would be out the window if you buy a turbo because turbo parts replace them.
