ORIGINAL: thakid

a NA B20 pushin out 300 that is a lot of hp over the stock 120 or 130hp the amoun of money he spent on that B20 i am 95% sure he could have got a CTR or ITR or a LS engine with some mods and be making more power than that better than that he could have even got a RSX engine

he works for honda as a mechanic, so he did all the labor himself. Never asked how much he had into it but i dont think he had that much into it cause of some of his connections.

I'm sure you're already aware of this, or it was already mentioned, but make sure you get rid of all those restrictions that honda has on the lower models, Intakes and Manifolds are smaller and arn't as permitting as the EX or SI parts, also check out the JDM parts- but good luck with the stock engine deal....

B20 wont pass emission. Only swap emission legal is K20 or K24 excluding Z series, the swap itself would cost upwards of 6-8 grand depending on labor. For that much he could definately make a D17 reach 300 whp safely.
Right I considered this alot in the build although having a swaped engine would be easier. What about the transmission deal? will I also need to upgrade that too?

Not a whole lot you can do with our tranny, unless you get it custom rebuilt; but that would cost oodles of money. Yes a swap would be easier and you can prolly get more hp outta it in the long run, but if you are satisfied with what your D17 can achieve then just boost it, do some internals and top end work, pick up an EMS and get a tune; it'll save you money.
