Default '87 Si Hatch

I've been pondering for a while, I'm thinking the answer is going to be just Get a New Car! But it's so light (2000 lbs give or take) that I hate to get rid of it. Whether this is unrealistic / totally insane is my question, I want to get this car into the 12's EVENTUALLY , I'm willing to take the time to make it there one day but mods are impossible to find for it (i've looked). So any recommendations on the engine I should put in, turbos or if I should just forget it and buy something else, Thanks!

87 hatch??? well the only thing i can think of is a b-series swap and boosting but your gonna eat your pocket like nothing. i suggest you get rid of the car now i know it means alot to you but trust and believe your gonna lose your patience with that car and if you put money in it its going to miss up more and more get a new civic like a 94 hatch and swap a b16 or something in it.

To be honest, I'd get rid of it and get a 4G Si Hatch. It doesn't weigh any more, and there's a TON more aftermarket support for it, including easy swapability... it would not be an expensive 12 second car at all (as 12 second cars go).

Well I talked to a guy who seems to think it can work, I'm just going to throw a ton of money at it (like you said). He seems to think it'll put down enough horse prepped right, as far as suspension and stuff that's probably going to be another headache.

The more I think about it the more I think you're right about getting a 94 or 95 hatch, I'll be able to snap axles in my current car and that's about it. Should I get a DX or SI or what in 94-95, I'm going to swap it out for a built b16 and add stage 2 or 3 turbos to it so it'll make insane hp (as much as I can do on pump gas).

Thanks for all your suggestions guys!

well it depends. if you get the DX and put a B16 in it and beef up the suspension a little bit you will virtually have an Si for cheaper, and it will go unnoticed by the insurance company. downside is if you crash it you get the money for the DX, not the DX with the swap. another thing you might wanna think about is that if you wanna run a stage 2 or 3 turbo then you will have to upgrade your internals. youd have to do this while the engine is out of the car...so it might be better to get a DX then an engine so you only have to pull the D16. theres a ton of things you should consider in this case. personally id get the DX then do a swap.

edit: wait..sry. i was thinkin the wrong generation. the 5th gen Si comes with a D16A6...so id just get the DX and swap in a B16.
