92-95 hatch motor question.
looking to purchase one asap, wanting to do engine swap. Looking for something reliable and powerful. Will be a daily driver but lookin to race it on the street/track.
Was refered to try a k20 by a local shop of mine. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |
RE: 92-95 hatch motor question.
A k20 swap is gonna cost you alot. If you have the money go for it. If it was me I would swap a b16 in there. There is a turboed b16 coupe in town that ran an 11.7. Its a pretty good motor.

ORIGINAL: jakobe06 Its a pretty good motor. Anyway, k20's are amazing, but expensive. If you want a cheaper engine, look into h22's. They're about the cost of a b16 and have 200hp at the crank and something along the lines of 160 ft/lbs of torque stock. And trust me, if you research them, probably close to 98% of the negative things you hear about them are false. |
RE: 92-95 hatch motor question.
Thanks For The Input, I Got A Lot Of Money Saved Up So Depending On The Price Of The Car Will Determine The Motor.
I'll Will Look Into The H22's. Keep The Input Coming. |
RE: 92-95 hatch motor question.
Ya if you can do a K20 (make sure its a K20A OR K20A2 and not a K20A3) that is your best bet, comes with a 6-speed tranny. With enough mods any engine can beat any other engine, a turbo D can beat a K20 or H22. The B16 is a great little engine and it is a nice engine to turbo. I think the best honda engine other then the K20 is the GSR or B18C1 engine. Has a nice 1.8 litres to play with that gives you your torque and it is a DOHC VTEC that revs high and swaps easy- thats just IMO

RE: 92-95 hatch motor question.
if u gonna use it as a daily driven car also then i wouldnt go H22, it'll be a better start if u start off wid B18c1 or a B16a. good luck
