92 civic hatch d15b7 complete rebuild Q's
 

Hey all, I am looking on some advice for getting rebuild parts for my g/f's hatch. It's the 1.5L 8-valve motor so nothing spcial about it, but it's a girls car and she doesn't want power just mileage. Anyway, I was wondering where a good place to find parts is at? I am doing a basic rebuild and need gaskets, piston rings, rod bearings and main bearings. Oh yea do these motors tend to need piston over-bores and turned cranks and is it possible to rebuild the oil pump? Thanks to all who cna help in advance.

Hey that makes things a little easier. I usually use a site like that but for motorcycles called bikebandit.com. If anyone has any advice or tricks to a rebuild I'd be game to hear them as well. It seems pretty straight forward as to the assembly and everything. What do you normally do when you need to have the cylinders and crank measured to see if you need them machined or bigger sizes?

I have the entire engine pulled apart at this point and have cleaned everything off in a solvent tank, it looks all purty now, definatly going to be the cleanest engine I have ever worked on.

Do I need to replace the oil pump? I've heard they are indestructable.

Moneys kinda tight for a new engine right now, plus I want the experience of totally pulling a motor a part and putting it back together. The only hang up is that i don't have a bore guage or calipers for measuring out tolerences.

Not sure if anyone is reading this thread or will answer, but... If any of you guys have done a complete rebuild, how difficult was it to turn the crank over without the pulley on it. The manual seems to sound like you will be able to grab it and turn with your hand, any ideas?

You'll need a wrench to turn the crank.
