engine conversion

Default engine conversion

hey guys i have a 97 cxi and was just wondering if i were to convert the engine of the origional civic motor just say with the b18c vtec manual motor or a motor from a manual prelude would i have to change the gearbox as well as anything else cheers

Yes, the transmission much match the series of the engine in most cases (i.e. your D-series engine transmission won't work on a B18C, it will need a B-series transmission). You'll need axles, possible wiring harnesses, motor mounts, ECU, etc. It's all specific to which engine you are swapping. Figure out what specific engine you want and then search this forum and the rest of the internet for swap information.

ok iv figured it out i have a h22a vtec engine with motor loom, cv joint axles and ecu with h22a gearbox transmission if i swap that into my civic will it be able to run fine? i will upgrade suspension and brakes later on as well. also will the engine mounts have to match the civic or the h22a motor
