98 Civic d15b?

Hello,

Im new to using these forums but i wouldnt mind double checking something with the others. I have a 98 Civic si, with a d16y8. The motor is at 389,000 km's and im running into a lot of problems now. I have a friend who has a d15b motor (no tranny). If i take the motor and literally just swap it, it should be all interchangeable correct? I was sure that ecu, tranny, mounts, axles etc. were the same and now im starting to doubt. It was the 96 model of civic that had the d15? im getting mixed up and in need of advice!

Thanks very much

Brennan

D series (SOHC) are pretty much the same. If you are getting a motor from a 96, all you will need to be really concerned with is wiring differences, which wouldn't be much since 96-98 are OBD2a.

Awesome thank-you, but would the d15b use the same ecu?

No it does not use the same ECU
