99 civic DX
 

So when I ask around locally about switching a D16 with an h22 in a 99 civic dx... Everyone tells me its not worth it.
Honestly, I'm only looking to street race in it and maybe hit the drag strip sometimes just to race some of my pals, but all I get is negative comments about h22 swaps.

What would you guys recommend?
Maybe I should just swap a k20?
and would I be able to put a 6 speed in a 99? Cuz I have never heard anyone have a 6 speed in a 99. Ofcourse all the dudes I know locally have half ass put together civics and integras. Havent seen any preludes around either lol. Guess theyre too heavy. So Im just looking to get my 4 door to show them up.

It is a headache of a swap. Even once it is running. H22 swaps are prissy bitches. See my signature. Gas consumption, oil consumption, axle issues (unless you go B series transmission)

EDIT - I would not do it again unless I was going H2B.

So I guess a k20A would be best then?

if you've got that kinda cash....maybe. K series trannies aren't known to be super reliable and they are expensive as hell to replace.

as cvcrcr99 pointed out, you could always go H2B which is an H22 mounted to a b series transmission via a special adapter plate. That way you keep the reliability of bseries transmissions, plus the parts for them are cheaper too.

So H2B is what I should be leaning towards...
but if i put a h2b in a civic, im not gonna be able to put any boost on that thing huh?

I have some friends who like to tell me a bunch of BS about civics when I ask about it. They obviously know nothing...
But I was pretty sure you can put boost on a h2b. He said the engine is too big to fit a turbo in there...

LOL there is always room for more sh1t. You can boost anything. H22 are not the best to boost due to the FRM walls in the block. The FRM is not the best in terms of pistons ring longevity.

Google and you will find 1000's of people boosting H22 motors.
