AC problem???

ok, right now im hating my AC. So lately its been really sucky, but i mean it still works like its cold but i just know it could be colder. When I went to go check it with a gauge it said is was pretty much fullso i went and got some freon for it just to top it off and nows its deff. full and ya its a little cooler now but still nothing spectacular. what else could i do?

RE: AC problem???

You are not suppose to "top off" refrigerant, it isn't engine oil or another fluid that has a dipstick or resorvoir. Get a thermometer and put it in the vents and turn the A/C all the way up. If the thermo reads between 35 and 45 F then you are fine and that is as cold as it is going to get. If you want to make sure you have the correct amount of refrigerant you can either pump all the old refrigerant out with a vacuum pump and refill it with the CORRECT amount or take it somewhere with a A/C recycling machine. If you need to know the exact amount of refrigerant you need, i can tell if you if give the the year, model, trim, engine of the car. What gauge did you use? If its a vacuum guage set and the pressures are correct you are prolly full. Over filling the A/C will destroy the compressor.

RE: AC problem???

i just went to autozone and got one of those canisters with the gauge right on it. I think i might just take it some wear and have them cycle it. Thanks though.
