So I have been checking out the air induction kits from AEM it seems me that on my model of car, 93 civic LX, that there may be little difference between the Short Ram induction and the K2 induction. I say this simply by judging the dyno's that aem presents on their website.

I also base this off the HP gain and Torque gain which seem to be similar in both applications, however will a Cold Air Induction show much improvement over either of these? It seems like it wouldn't, but hey I am new at this..... So my question seems to be which would be best for 93 civic's D15B7? AEM mentions that In some cases, the SRS is preferred over the CAS due to inlet tract length tuning. The power advantage gained by using the correct diameter and length of tube negates the advantage of cooler inlet air in these cases. AEM only offers SRS in some cases because there was no advantage to using the CAS. In the case of my engine the SRS is offered so this means that an SRS system would be equal to a CAI in my case? I don't know any help would be appreciated.

never mind the last part of the post concerning AEM providing only SRS systems in some cases read a little bit more and found out that it would not apply to me, the question however still stands what would be the best setup for the engine I have. Money is not really an object as far as the three are concerned however just because something is more expensive does not make it better.

Short ram intakes give you better low end power (because of the short tube) but less over all horsepower. Cold air intakes give you more power in the higher end, but more overall horsepower. Its all in what you want out of your car.

For every 10 degrees cooler that your intake air is... you will increase your horsepower by 1%. Thats why intercoolers, nitrous, and cryo kits help out so much. Really I dont see much of a difference between the two just pick where in the RPM spectrum you would like that increased umph.

oh yeah... the short ram sounds way better, gives it some balls... can I say balls on the internet? (im running the AEM short)



You can even go the Ebay route... I'd just recommend a good filter (K&N, HKS, etc...) and it will be the same[sm=smiley2.gif]
