Default Any free power?

Is there any free HP to be had on these motors? I know on my truck some really cheap power could be made by just bypassing the boost circuit and small things like that. I plan on doing I/H/E and probably not much else, so I'm looking for some other inexpensive ways to get a couple HP..... WITHOUT sacrificing any fuel economy.

I know weight is a biggy, but I'm not yanking any stuff out of my car, it's a daily driver... just talking about engine mods here.

Thanks in advance.

Weight isnt HP its drag. Just wanted to clarafy that. Anyhow im not sure of to much you can do but you could port and polish you intake manny and head thats free if you do it yor self other than parts like hew head bolts and HG. Ditch the evap system its not needed. Your pretty much screwed.

I full understand the relationship between weight-acceleration-cornering-braking... I've spent a lot of time in the IMCA and NASCAR racing circuits... I've been driving short track racing for a little over 5 years now.

you could convert your car to an obd1 ecu, and then get the nessesary parts, and read, read ,and read some more how to tune your ecu yourself and you can find some horsepower. other than that not much else to get free.

you could also get a grounding kit and advance your timing. but that would only be 1-3 horsepower increase.

there are some serious weight reductions you can do that dont involve stripping your car...like the jack and doughnut and other stuff youd probably never think of... im pretty sure theres a DIY on it somewhere in the DIY section.

you could advance your timing a bit and find some more horses...but higher octane feul would be a necessity.

I'm not against weight reduction by any means, it's just not practical for what I'm using the car for, and I want to keep the doughnut because I drive a long ways to work everyday.

Looks like this is a bit fruitless, I'll just focus on I/H/E.

Thanks for the input everyone.
