attempting to beef up my engine

Okay guys I have a stock 02 civic ex manual coupe. I here that bolt ons are really all I can do to my engine besides turbo to make it faster. My question is will an exhaust, headers airintake and manifold make it go any faster? Is the results worth the wrench time and money? My pockets aren't the deepest but I would like to change the meezly 127 pony power. What would do it?

with a full exhaust, including header, and a nice CAI the most gains you might see is 10 horsepower. I doubt you'll really even feel much of a difference. These little D series aren't v-8's and they really don't respond to mods that great... but only because they were built for gas mileage and reliability.

IMO, if I had the same model as you, I'd do some suspension mods and save up for a K-swap. You'd have a really nice, somewhat fast, and even somewhat unique car (not alotta people swap that generation from what I've seen... yet, anyways....)

Honestly, the D17 you have isn't the best for making power; they don't even respond well to forced induction. Your best bet (assuming your budget allows it) would be a K swap. Personally, I'd go for a K24A2 swap and matching 6-speed; the K-series engines respond extremely well to mods, not to mention the extra power and torque you get upfront.
