AutoMeter Oil temp gauge
Alright, so I bought a brand new electronic oil temp gauge and I was wondering where was the best place to install this. It's got a sending unit that has 1/8" npt threads with adapters to 3/8 and 1/2. I was origionally going to put this on my oil feed adapter, but the sending unit extends past the threads about 1/2". I could cut the sending unit off just past the threads, but i'm not sure what is inside it and don't really wanna try and mess it up. Any suggestions on where to mount or what to do? thanks...

RE: AutoMeter Oil temp gauge
if u want to put it on oil feed adapter get a fitting that is either a 90 degree or 45 degree and do it that way. When I get home in feb i will post a pic of what im talking about. or u can get tapped into ur oil pan.

here is a good pic of the sending unit.

I kinda understand what you're talking about but not 100%, pics would be great. I was wondering if I could get like a spacer per-say. like an 1/8" to 1/8"like what camewith my gauge, except 1/8". |
RE: AutoMeter Oil temp gauge
So nevermind on this whole post... I guess other people can use it for help. I went to work today and found some fittings that will work, here is a pic... I just took it from 1/8" to 1/4" (basically because the 1/8" coupler we had wasn't long enough) then from 1/4" back down to 1/8".
