RE: B16 or B20??

"Can be faster" isnt a good question, both can be fast with the right parts. Stock the B20 will leave the B16 in the dust, has so much moving torque. Built, if the B20 has vtec, it will again leave the B16 behind.

How can I tell?

I'm brand new to the forums. I just got a '98 civic. How can I tell what type of engine I have?

What model is it? If you look under the hood it is printed in front on the block of the engine.

RE: How can I tell?

b20b with oil squitters done, together with b18 crankshaft and conrod is normally a traditional recipe for hybriding... with proper installation and tuning, plus ported and polished head with b16b cam should be a sleeper.:)
