b16a2

So im getting bored of my b16a2, i had it put in, it was nightmare cause harness wasnt obd2 had to butcher it abit, lol but all in all everything turned out okay.

So im thinking about taking my b16a2 out and putting h22a in, anyone? what would i need? or should i just spend 3k and turbo b16a2?

Spend that money to turbo the b16a it will make much much more power even streetable power I am very biased but i believe the b16a has the most potential of any honda engine currently because if its rod stroke ratio and less torque for less spin off the line but still able to make tons of horsepower. Any way if you do go the h22 route use that b16a tranny and you will have a fast car as well.

go b20vtec it has decent torque im about to go that direction, but you can do the turbo on the b16a2 just make sure you get a good set up like greddy(but dont use their fuel management it blows motors up) or edelbrock turbo kit is also good too. but the h22 i would stay away because that thing is super heavy you would not be able to make turns easy.

Not really
It's not that heavy. If you get an H22 swap and a CF hood, you will have pretty much exactly the same weight as before the swap. I know a guy who had a '93 Coupe with an H22A, and he agrees.

Yeah h22a s are only 50ish pounds more i have heard even less though so its pretty insubstantial. mounting will be more of an issue but turbos are even more difficult i would stay away from paying alot for a greddy kit or equivalent unless you have to pass emmissions or something there are much cheaper kits that have MUCH better parts and for engine management the cheapest easiest way to go is a chipped ecu and tune. THe h22a with the b16 tranny conversion would be very quick especially if you have lsd though so it depends how much you wanna work and what kind of power and budget you have in mind.

LMFAO The B16 is the most over rated, swap in the stable. True it is a "square" engine but jesus who cares. The H22 is a much better swap for the money, H swaps in eg and ek hatches with bolt on's and a decent driver will get you 13 second 1/4 mile times. The engine is around 40lbs heavier, aftermarket rims, a cf hood, and aftermarket header will make that weight difference pointless. You put a set of cams in the H, tune it, and hit it with a 75 to 100 shot of spray and with traction 12's are attainable with very nice street manners.

I dont blame the poster for not being happy with the B16, if I spent that much money and got the results that the B16 give I would be downright pissed. But then again that is what happens when people get caught up in hype. "OMG OMG it's a JDM engine, it must be better. 160hp on a good day and no tq but it's gotta be worth $1800+ because it's from Japan." lol

Try $2250 + shipping + $1000 for the high-wear replacement parts, Marty :D

I say go h22. You want to talk weight? A b16 with a turbo mani and a 30lb snail bolted to the front will weigh more than an h22. You want an engine that'll chirp the tires going into 4th? Get an h22. You want an engine that'll spin through 4th? Bolt the b16 trans to the h22 (while I'm not joking, the b16 trans is geared waaaaaaay too short for the torque of the h22.

If you haven't noticed, I'm voting h22. I/H/E/Cams/nitrous = one helluva ride. There's two hard parts with swapping the h22, and they're both not really that hard. The first thing is the wiring (which isn't that much more in-depth than any other swap), and the second is fitting the monster of an engine into the EG bay, which involves hammering the (I believe) passenger frame rail .5"-1" out of the way... which is well worth the 200hp/160ft*lbs of torque the engine produces stock.

+1 for h22, you're not gonna be disappointed with the torque. Same basic mods, and you're cruising.

That link needs to be in a sticky in the motor swap sections

+1 I'm thinking about taking the b16 out of my car and going with a h22a i just dont know what it requires to the exact extent i dont wanna get stuck with little things like i did with my b16 (I.E rear mount, alternator, axles(flakey ass friend with axles) so i want to be straight up and know whaqt i would run me so if someone is experianced with h22a swap in a EJ 93 coupe hit me up

or does someone think its just worth it to turbo a mid built b16 and call it a day? its either the swap, or the turbo. keep in mind this is a daily driver
