b7 head with a y8 manifold????
i have a d15b7 and i got my y8 manifold yesterday and wanted to kno if its possible to swap it, i was thinking the map sensor would be diffrent. i was thinking i would get better breathing.
yes it will fit but did you get a manual im or a auto im?
i want to say m/t but how whould i be able to check. i kno the head it came off of was vtec.
does it have a iacv on the back side of the im?
post a pick of it and ill tel you |
i jus searched it. and its an auto. will this still work? what are the pros and cons of it not being manual?
I don't think 96-00 auto has an IACV, which is something you need. In otherwords, you need a manual transmission intake manifold.
no it doesnt have the iacv. so i might as well take it back.
Wait a sec. The IACV is on the TB on ALL 5th gens, isn't that right? (I might be wrong here, but if I remember correctly that is the case) So the manifold should be good.
no the automatics dont have it, only the manuals do. on the y8 intake manifold.
also when you put the y8 im on a obd1 car you have to convert the iacv, |
Not the point I'm trying to make. I am pretty sure that ALL 5th gens have the IACV on the TB. Is that not the case? (looking at pictures of a TB from a 94 dx auto and it is on the TB).
They arent on the tb they are on the back of the intake manifold, and he's wanting to put a 6th gen intake manifold on his 5th gen,
i think ur right. it is on the tb.
post a pic.
IACV is on the back of the manifold, FITV is on the throttle body.
i cant, dont have a camera.
2 Attachment(s)
does your cel phone take pics? then txt them to your email address, then use photobucket to load them.
i just wanted you to post a pic so i can circle stuff and explain that the iacv is on the back of the intake manifold not the tb, and the y8 intake manifold doesnt have the iacv needed only the manual one does. this is the fitv Attachment 16380 and this is the iacv Attachment 16381 |
Ah, that piece of garbage... yes, yer right... I think. Been at least three years since I held a D series manifold in my hands.
yeah your right i dont have that on my y8. so what should i do? jus find a manual im.
There are ways to make it work, but it's cheaper to find the right one to begin with...
just get a z6 intake manifold and call it a day,
okay right tools for the right job, gotcha. but please explain why get a z6 im. i was told the y8 breathes better. or am i thinking that the y8 head breathes better than the z6 head
the z6 is from the 92-95 ex/si and it is less of a headache to install than the y8, because its all obd1 already, the y8 is a slightly bigger intake manifold but not much, and if you are going to install turbo the z6 is alot more sufficent,
i plan on doing a all motor set up. y7 bottom end y8 head p29 pistons block guard exospeed cam shaft dual springs and retainers. im going for atleast 12 CR.
block guard on an all-motor setup? Why bother? Also why a y8 head? The y7 head is one of the better flowing heads out there. Sure, it's non VTEC, but who cares. Set it up for high end end don't let it drop out of power.
y not block guard.and i already have the y8 head sitting in the garage waiting. and why couldnt the y8 handle high end.
