blown pistons

one of my pistons broke, from my understanding due to high rpm and the thing shoots out oil when i go to high now, will this lead to crack cylinder or any other problems? the people are tellin me its goin to cost me roughly 2000$ to repair, but i'm thinking what the hell? its just a piston and the rings, but they said its running low pressure also, anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

RE: blown pistons

probably shot your rings. it would be hard to crack a sleeve. 20+ psi of boost sometimes cracks sleeves.

so that would just required a replacing a piston and the ring right? i don't think that would cost 2 grand...

if you take it out it might not be the rings alone.. its probably the ring lands also. they are pretty weak IMO.

is it using alot of oil?

the 2 grand is probably for labor.. the labor rate where im at varies between 50-85/hr. you'll have to have the cylinder rehoned at least so it seals. so you might want to think about swapping a stock or other engine in if you have the funds
