Default burning oil-new car

I have a new honda civiv type-S. when i have done about 6000km it run out of oil. I was told that it is normal because the first oil placed in the engine is easily burned. Now I have 15000km (5500km after first service and oil refilling) and my car still burns oil. I am told that it is normal for the car to burn 1litre/1000km. Is it ok for an engine to burn so much oil? I had other cars before that and had never oil burning problems. I cant believe that a normal working car can burn so much oil. I am not a fast driver (low rpm).
What should I do?
